How We Work
At Wellspring, we experience the world and reflect on our experiences in order to continually grow our minds and our potential. By re-inspiriting everything we do, we can evolve our ways of relating with people, places, and every system of this wild world so that we can all take more agency for our roles and the ways we can work together to bring unimaginable futures into being. The only way through this time of confusion and grief is to cultivate the seeds of creativity and capacity, and practicing the art of regenerating life.
Lineage
Many lineages of learning and teaching come together in the confluence of practice that we call “Wellspring”. Decades of direct relationship with the wild world as a muddy-kneed nature lover meet disruptive developmental learning via years of practice with Carol Sanford, professional development through organizational strategic consulting, constantly evolving learning of history and culture as inspired by Martín Prechtel, and a seemingly endless community of Friends in the Work and fellow teachers of living systems thinking, wilderness guiding, and naturalist skills.
Place
Wellspring is mostly to be found in two special spots on this planet, though we may pop out from behind a bush or smile at you from across a crowded lecture hall anywhere in the world. Our home base is Paridae Grove, where the Wellspring resides, a topographically wild forest nook on Hemlock Hill in Unity, Maine, just above the Kanokolus Bog and nestled in the Sebasticook River lifeshed within Penobscot territory here in Wabanakik, the Dawnland, where we are so deeply grateful and honored to reside. Our satellite location is no one’s home at the moment, on the shores of sparkling Pleasant River Lake at Epahsahtek (links to separate page), or “The In Between Place”, affectionately called “Huckleberry Hollow” for the legion huckleberries that bedeck the shores. Situated directly between Passamaquoddy and Penobscot homelands, Epahsahtek calls people together to connect with one another and with the world around in a place that offers ease and abundance with seemingly effortless grace.
