Working with Trevanna Grenfell
Working long-term with Wellspring Resourcing to become a “Developmental Organization”
Existing organizations, businesses, or teams who are motivated to become more self-organizing, viable, and effective as leaders in service to powerful systems evolutions that uplift the regenerative potential of life in the places, communities, and industries that comprise their fields of influence.
Outcomes
Within 6 months of focused work, most teams have transformed their shared thinking and practice to a point where they can never return to their old ways. But it generally takes 3-8 years to fully transform a business or organization into a self-organizing and regenerating system, with each member contributing with personal agency and clarity towards a collective direction as the whole organization becomes increasingly non-displaceable in their field and financially stable while working effectively in service of shared higher aims at the level of whole systems evolution.
Is your organization or business ready for this?
-
- You are curious and open-minded about testing new concepts and are willing to push yourself out of your existing habits and beliefs in order to develop yourself and your potential in the world
- You are the kind of person (or willing to become the kind of person) who takes responsibility for your own development and is motivated to pursue powerful ends
- You are able to dedicate several hours per week and a training/leadership development line in your budget in order to pursue focused practice of this developmental way of working and thinking
- You are ready to take initiative to integrate new living systems and developmental practices into your daily work, and to experiment with changing your thinking and applying that evolving thinking to your regular work, not as a separate thing on the side
- You want to begin to shift the decision-making processes, systems, and structures of your team to become more effective and efficient over time.
- You have an offering of a product or service that you know is of value to your stakeholders and to the world, and you want to expand upon and deliver that value in ways that position you as a leader and influencer of real evolution at the level of the systems in which you are nested
- You are frustrated with using the same change efforts with very little systems evolution
- You’re willing to have fun AND to wrestle with challenging ideas together for the sake of a future we know we MUST bring into reality
There are three prongs of practice that help this transformation happen best.
-
- Individualized organizational education and “resourcing” with me (or another experienced Resource), with regular meetings with your team and with individuals to advance your understanding and application of this work. Usually 5-15 hours/month, depending on availability. In person sessions possible but most work is done online.
- Self-directed learning, application, and experimentation with the ideas and practices of the work. We work on something together and then you advance the work in between our sessions, so that you come back to me with progress and further questions.
- Participation by some or all team members in ongoing regenerative thinking communities in order to connect and learn with other leaders in this field. List of suggestions in appendix.
Investment
Financial capital budget is usually $20,000 – $140,000/year, depending on size of organization and amount of complexity of development. This can include facilitated developmental sessions for your teams, board, or whole staff via Zoom; 1:1 resourcing for leadership development and application of living systems thinking to specific projects; participation in developmental communities; and occasional in person events.
Time budget is usually 8-25 hours/month of individual and team time, some with an external resource and some on your own, but this time is primarily spent working on existing projects or aspects of your work using this technology, not additional time. The ratio of education (which can feel like an addition to your schedule) to application and direct resourcing (which can feel more integrated with your existing To Do list) shifts over time as you become more and more versed in the way of working and it is integrated into your culture.
Who will you be working with?
Wellspring is an avenue for pursuing living systems thinking development with Trevanna Frost Grenfell. Trevanna has been working with organizations on sustainability and leadership development for 19 years, integrating non-profit strategic consulting training, conflict resolution and negotiation education, and a decade of applied immersion in living systems and developmental work both personally and professionally. Trevanna also brings a lifetime of connection with land and community and decades of professional experience as a naturalist and wilderness guide leading outdoor programs and schools for youth and adults. Interweaving our daily work with our direct relationships with the living world and re-inspiriting the ways we do business and make change are what bring life to Wellspring and to Trevanna, and form the core of what guides our offerings to grow your capacity to make a difference for what you care about in this living and evolving world.
Trevanna will sometimes collaborate with “Friends in the Work” fellow living systems practitioners and developmental resources who have experience that complements and augments in ways that support your group’s needs. One of the benefits of participating in this School of Work is that there is a remarkable global network of practitioners who can uplift and support one another (and you) as we grow our shared capability and consciousness.
Join us! It’s the most hopeful thing we have encountered in these challenging times. If we really commit to developing ourselves and the systems of which we are part to be able to play their unique roles in support of the regeneration of life, that evolution leads to astounding potential futures that we can’t yet imagine. We have much to lose if we accept the status quo, and much to gain if we intentionally shift our direction and rigorously walk that path. Let’s walk together.
Getting Started
-
- Schedule a series of 2-3 calls, to experience the work and discuss how it could be particularly applied to your situation and goals.
- If everyone wants to proceed, design an engagement to begin diving in. Usually 6-12 months of sessions in a combination of education, resourcing, application, and reflection.
- Simultaneously, consider what other ways your group might participate in communities or offerings to enrich your learning.
- Regularly check in to assess progress and needs and to readjust the design and plans in order to best support what you’re working on and how you are growing.
